Think Open Space – Dispensing Area
A decluttered & designed shop window can attract people and invite them in your optical. But the way your dispensary looks and feels like is what will make your patients stay, walk around and come back again. That is why space planning is so important.

With space planning, you optimize and organize your entire space – to achieve the ideal working flow. In addition, space planning, if done well, can help not just in everyday work but also helps in branding your business and improving sales.
Here we include some guidelines on how to open your space using space planning:
1. Ease the access
Can you access or get around your displays and eyewear easily? Think of removing any massive furniture that dominates and limits your space. The floor should be used for walking, think of walls for displaying eyeglasses.

2. Choose and organize
The choice of optical displays will define the look and feel of your optical. Rods are usually used when great capacity and security are needed. Horizontal bars provide a clean and open look and feel. For luxury brands we always suggest shelves, and it is up to you whether you want them secured, or not. No matter what your choice is, always pay attention to separate frames by type and by price. Also, remember the kids and sports areas.

3. Highlight and attract
Are you intuitively attracted by a certain part of your interior? You should be! The thing that attracts your eye as you enter the store is what we call the focal point. It can be a wall color, interesting fabric on your chairs, or even better - an exclusive display with new arrivals. Having a focal point will divide your space and make it more interesting – even recognizable. Think of your brand colors.

4. Relax and make comfortable
Some parts of an optical, like the waiting area should be areas with a relaxing look and feel, especially on those busy days. Not having enough sitting space, results in people usually wandering around, thereby causing foot traffic jams in your clinic. You can never go wrong with comfortable and functional seating but also pay attention that you respect the “private space” guidelines. People in general don’t like sitting next to a stranger. Another thing to pay attention to is what to display in a sitting area. Pick 1 or more (if you have enough room) displays that will show a few of your top brands exclusive glasses to spark their imagination. This way, when they are ready to choose the design of their frames, it will be much easier.

5. Watch them navigate
If you have successfully defined your optical interior and divided it into different areas, you will see how your space has opened up. Now people will have a clear idea of where to go and what to do, without knowing that you actually planned the way they should walk around your shop. You will have cleverly navigated them to the areas that are of interest to you. Well done.
